Our Family Farm

Hi, I'm Dave.

Farmer Dave's Meats began with a simple goal: to produce exceptional meat while leaving the land healthier than we found it. Today, that vision has grown into a collaboration of friends, family, and farmers across British Columbia who all share a passion for regenerative agriculture, animal welfare, and producing food with integrity.

While my dad, Willem, and I remain at the heart of the business, Farmer Dave's Meats has become something much bigger than a single farm. We work with a small network of farmers we know personally. People who care for their land, raise their animals with respect, and believe that healthy soil is the foundation of healthy food.

My dad has spent more than 35 years farming organically, while my background is in conservation science, business management, and regenerative agriculture. Although I spent years working in environmental conservation, I eventually realized the greatest contribution I could make was through farming. Raising livestock in a way that restores ecosystems while producing food our communities can trust.

Today we raise cattle, sheep, and pasture-raised chickens in the Comox Valley and Kelowna using regenerative farming practices. Our livestock are rotationally grazed on diverse pastures, while our chickens live in solar-powered mobile barns that are moved onto fresh grass several times each day. Every management decision is made with the long-term health of our soils, animals, and surrounding ecosystems in mind.

Working Together to Build Better Agriculture

One of our closest partners is Nathan Daniels, owner of Grass Anchor Farms. Nathan created Grass Anchor Farms with a vision of strengthening British Columbia's grass-fed, grass-finished beef industry while investing in farmers who are restoring soil health through regenerative agriculture.

Nathan is also my business partner at Creekside Meats and the founder of a Vancouver-based law firm. Alongside his legal career, he owns a cow-calf ranch near Nazko, British Columbia, and works with regenerative livestock producers throughout the province. Today, Grass Anchor Farms supplies the majority of the grass-fed beef available through Farmer Dave's Meats, while our own farm contributes additional cattle raised using the same principles.

Supporting Like-Minded Farmers

Not every animal we sell is raised on our own farm, and we're proud of that.

Rather than trying to do everything ourselves, we've built relationships with a handful of exceptional farmers whose values match our own. By working together, we're able to offer a wider selection of premium meats while supporting regenerative agriculture across British Columbia.

Our heritage pasture-raised pork comes from Stony Mountain Farm near 100 Mile House. After deciding to focus our own farm on cattle, sheep, and poultry, we sold our heritage pig breeding stock to Stony Mountain Farm, knowing they would continue raising pigs to the same high standards we believe in. Their hogs are raised outdoors on pasture, fed a high-quality non-GMO diet, and cared for with an unwavering commitment to animal welfare.

Every farm we work with shares the same philosophy: healthy soils, healthy animals, and responsible stewardship of the land.

From Farm to Butcher

Exceptional meat deserves exceptional processing.

That's why Nathan and I founded Creekside Meats in Kelowna, a provincially inspected meat processing facility built around humane animal handling, careful craftsmanship, and traditional artisan butchery.

Every animal sold through Farmer Dave's Meats is processed at Creekside Meats, allowing us to oversee every step from farm to finished product. By keeping processing within our own network, we can maintain the high standards our partner farmers work so hard to achieve while ensuring every cut meets the quality our customers expect.

Our Philosophy

We believe the future of farming isn't about producing more, it's about producing better.

Our philosophy is simple:

Eat less meat, but eat better meat.

By focusing on regenerative agriculture, rotational grazing, animal welfare, and thoughtful stewardship of the land, we're helping build resilient farms that nourish both people and the environment.

Whether your beef comes from our own cattle, Grass Anchor Farms, or another trusted partner, every product carrying the Farmer Dave's Meats name reflects the same commitment to quality, transparency, and responsible farming.

We're also grateful to my mum, whose love of cooking, fresh ingredients, and bringing family together around the table inspired our appreciation for good food from an early age. Her influence continues to shape everything we do.

Thank you for supporting local farmers and becoming part of our story. Every purchase helps strengthen a network of regenerative farms working together to build a healthier future for British Columbia agriculture.
